On Thursday 18th October the Further Education Students of 2017-2018 received their Certificates for their QQI level 5 and QQI level 6 Awards. The Graduation Ceremony took place in the School Assembly Hall and was attended by many of last year’s graduates. They were congratulated by the MC for the evening, Ms Kathleen Campbell; those congratulations were echoed by Ms Enda Kenny, the FE Co-ordinator.
Enda emphasised the achievement of the students who had worked hard through their courses – often with a lot of competing demands on their time. She thanked the staff of the college, the families and friends of the students for supporting the students during the year. She reminded the Graduates that their studies had not ended, that they will never cease learning. She remarked that she had learned so much over the years from the FE students and would continue to learn in her new role as Deputy Principal of Sallynoggin Further Education College.
The theme of continuing education was echoed by the speaker representing the students, Michael Wallace. He described his academic journey from Collinstown Park to Trinity College. He thanked the school for all it had given him and all the students in the FE section.
The evening was wrapped up by Ms Pauline Duffy, school principal, who praised the students and their families and friends. She recognised the work that they had put in and wished them well in their future journey. She noted the difference that Enda Kenny had made in her years in FE in Collinstown Park and said that Collinstown’s loss would be Sallynoggin’s gain.
Following the formalities the students caught up with each other over refreshments in the school.
