The trip began early Saturday morning as the students comprised of Third, Fourth and Fifth-years left the school at 6.30 am. After a calm ferry journey to Holyhead, the bus made its way to Manchester. On reaching Manchester there was a two hour stop at The Trafford Centre for some early Christmas shopping, relaxation and some food!
Next up was the Ethiad Stadium for Manchester City v Chelsea and a 5.30 pm kick-off. The atmosphere outside the ground was electric as fans prepared for a third versus fourth-place game. The game itself ended 2-1 in favour of Man City and everyone agreed it was an exciting game.
After an overnight stay in Stockport, the Liverpool fans on the trip were delighted with the next leg of the trip: Anfield. An interactive tour of the ground was a change from previous years but the addition of the new stand and an audiovisual device led to an enjoyable tour. Students were most excited to get pictures in front of their favourite player’s jersey in the home team dressing room.
A two-hour journey back to Holyhead and the ferry journey home brought an end to this year’s trip to Manchester. The students had an excellent time and were great representatives for their school throughout.
