COURSE FEES/CHARGES EXEMPTIONS:

Medical Card Holders :

 

Medical card holders are exempt from paying the €200 Government Levy. (full medical card only (not GP) must be produced to the main office in the college once you have been offered a place. Card must be valid in September 2018.
BTEA

(Back to Education Allowance)

Social Protection recipients on Jobseekers Benefit/Allowance who are not taking part in a VTOS course must qualify for BTEA to participate in a full time PLC course listed above. Learners on BTEA are exempt from paying the Course Fee & Government Levy. For more information contact your local Social Protection office. A letter stating you have been accepted onto BTEA must be produced on or before Registration Day. Students in receipt of other Social Protection payments may be granted an exemption provided they have a letter from Social Protection stating they have permission to participate in a full time course.
PLC Grant

Students who qualify for a PLC Grant are exempt from paying the €200 Government Levy. Evidence that you have applied for the grant must be produced on or before Registration Day. There will be a PLC Grant information meeting in the college following interviews in May.

 

 

 

What Will My Full Time PLC Course Cost Me? ** All costs are based on last years’ course fees etc. and may be subject to change

Application

All full time PLC applications must register using the college online system (MIT). Once you submit an application you will receive an acknowledgement email to the email address you provide which will contain your unique username and password, all future payments (see below) should then be made by logging on to MIT.

Course Deposit €50 (Due by the end of June, you will receive a letter with further details)

 

Following interview ALL students who are offered a place must pay a €50 deposit to secure this place. This non-refundable deposit will be used to cover the cost of photocopying & QQI examination fees.

 

Course Fee : €130 College Course Fee (Due by Registration Day, late August/early September)

Students (including those who are awarded PLC Grants) are required to pay this fee. (certain exemptions apply, see below)

 

Students on Jobseekers Allowance/Benefit not taking part in a VTOS course must qualify for BTEA to take up a full time course, students must produce a letter from Social Protection on/before Registration Day stating that have been accepted on the BTEA scheme, these students are exempt from paying the €130 course fee.

 

Students on other Social Protection payments e.g. Lone Parents/Disability Allowance etc. may qualify for a Course Fee exemption provided they have a letter from Social Protection stating they have permission to take up a full time course.

 

PLC Government Levy : €200 (Due by Registration Day, late August/early September)

Students who are qualify for BTEA/Social Protection Recipients/Medical Card Holders are exempt from paying this fee. A letter from Social Protection stating you have been accepted on the BTEA scheme/have permission to do course/valid Medical Card must be produced on/before Registration Day. All other students are required to pay this fee. Students eligible for a PLC Grant will have this fee refunded once evidence is provided that Grant has been awarded, for more information on PLC Grants go to www.studentfinance.ie / www susi.ie.

 

Non EU National students are charged fees as set by the Department of Education & Skills – details of these are available from the college.

Additional Charges (Due on/before Registration Day, late August/early September)

Charges apply to the following courses, charges are payable by all students;

  • Hairdressing : Course Equipment €220 (students will be required to purchase their own uniform approx. cost €30)
  • Beauty Therapy Specialist : Course Equipment €150 (students will be required to purchase their own uniform approx. cost €30)
  • Nursing Studies : Training & Uniform €150
  • Health Care Support : Training & Uniform €150

Books : Students must purchase the books required for their course. Booklists will be issued by teachers.
