Hairdressing and Beauty Studies
QQI Level 5: (5M3351)
This is a one year course designed to give training in the skills and education required for the Hairdressing and Beauty industries. Students will do a work experience module which will involve spending one day per week in a salon. It is also possible to do this course as in two years part time.

1 year Full-time
Leaving Certificate / Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI/ FETAC Level 4. Mature students with relevant life or work experience. All candidates will be interviewed individually. Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to take an assessment in English to establish the most suitable level of study for them.
Work Experience is a compulsory part of this course. Learners are required to find a work experience placement and to complete a 60 hour minimum work placement over the duration of the course.
QQI Level 5 Major Award in Hairdressing. Successful completion of the course will enable the learner to enter employment in the Hairdressing & Beauty Care Industries or go on to further study at QQI Level 6 or Third Level through the Higher Education Links Scheme.
Learners who have successfully completed this course have progressed to complete their Hairdressing apprenticeship in major salon chains and smaller outlets. Successful learners have also progressed to study at Level 6 in Colleges of Further Education.
