Two components from the following list will be selected by the college subject to availability
- Infection Prevention & Control (5N3734)
- Nursing Theory & Practice (5N4325)
- Anatomy & Physiology (5N0749)
- Word Processing (5N1358)
- Care of the Older Person (5N2706)
Learners will also complete Moving and Handling and First Aid (CPR)Training.
Full-time: 1 year (five half days per week) *
Leaving Certificate / Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI/ FETAC Level 4. Mature students with relevant life or work experience. All candidates will be interviewed individually. Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to take an assessment in English to establish the most suitable level of study for them.
Work Experience is a compulsory part of the course. Garda Vetting is required and will be organised through the college.
Successful completion of the course will enable learners to seek employment in the community and health services area or take up further study at Third Level through the Higher Education Links Scheme.
Students who successfully completed this course have gained full-time and part-time positions in a variety of care settings including Hospitals, Public and Private Nursing homes and as home helps or home carers.
