Under 15 Boys Football Report

Over the last year our under 15 boys football team had a year of mixed feeling. We had a team of energy, spirit and determination. We only played a small number of games but at times the team seemed as if they had played together for years.

Training started in mid-October with good numbers showing up. Weather was a huge factor but when the weather was decent the numbers ranged from 15-20. We started off the year at a blistering pace with big wins over Riversdale and Fingal CC. Both games where away and over the 2 games we scored 8 goals and conceded zero.

Our defence was strong throughout the season, only conceding 2 goals. At the heart of our defence we had Darragh Flood and Dean Kelly, both covering for each other and leading from the back. In midfield Jake Purcell and Cian Brazil worked extremely hard to control the pace of each game. Up front there was Bradley Cooney who seemed to put goal after goal behind each keeper. These are only a few with players like Nathan Noland constantly attacking on the wings to Reece Ward controlling everything in goal.

Our final game was at home and it came against Palmerstown CS. A local derby, neither team wanting to make any mistake. Palmerstown playing with the wind started slightly the better. Very strong winds made it difficult for any team to really settle. The game ended up being very close with Collinstown Park CC narrowly missing out 2:1 in the end.

Overall it was a tough year for all involved, it was a long season with long gaps in between games. The team will use the experience they gained from this year and bring it with them next year and see how far it gets them.- Mr Fitzpatrick
